SMG Web Design was created in the fall of 2009 by Jason Sethre, owner of the Fillmore County Journal in Preston, Minnesota. After participating in various local meetings, it became apparent that local businesses who wanted an on-line presence had to hire companies located outside of the community and typically had to pay a large fee up front and ongoing fees for updates.
